Cavanagh is one of the newest communities in southwest Edmonton's Heritage Valley area, named after Terry Cavanagh, the city's first native born mayor, and it continues to add new phases as builders work through the remaining lots.

The community sits along Blackmud Creek, giving residents direct access to ravine trails and green space that connect into the broader Heritage Valley pathway system. A parkour playground has become one of Cavanagh's more distinctive features, giving families an active, unconventional play space that stands out from a standard playground build.
